Garmin Cortex® M1

RELAX - THE CORTEX IS ALWAYS WATCHING

A high-speed smartAIS transponder broadcasts your boat's position and heading and proactively warns of certain collision hazards and also triggers alarms for anchor drift or MOB (man overboard) situations. This hub is VHF capable. To get full VHF radio capability, simply add a Cortex handset (sold separately). With the Cortex apps you can monitor boat systems, receive alerts and control devices remotely from your compatible smartphone. A GPIO connector and included cable allow you to monitor bilge pumps, security sensors, shore power and more. NMEA 2000® connectivity allows you to view Cortex data on connected multifunction displays and chartplotters.

Smart logic AIS helps to make better decisions

COLLISION AVOIDANCE ANCHOR WATCH MAN OVERBOARD
The Cortex M1 is a fully functional Class B SOTDMA transceiver. Combining GPS, AIS and heading data with smart logic, it proactively warns you of specific collision hazards with alerts or spoken alerts that escalate until acknowledged. AIS boat information (name, bearing and relative position) is continuously provided over the AIS information broadcast by other boats. Based on the actual anchor position from the bow and the integrated Cortex heading sensor, smartAIS records the movements of the boat and gives an alarm when the anchor shifts. This also happens when there is a change in wind speed, wind direction or water depth. While on the boat you can receive alerts on your compatible mobile device via the Cortex Onboard app - or you can receive them via the Cortex Monitor app when you are on land. Cortex smartAIS constantly monitors whether the MOB (man overboard) function is activated and sounds an alarm if it is activated. MOB can be activated manually via the Cortex onboard app or automatically via an AIS MOB signal. In doing so, a backtracking mode is launched to allow for faster rescue.

DIRECTIONAL VOICE ALERTS MONITORING AND CONTROL CORTEX MONITOR APP
In the event of a collision alarm, the cortex announces the direction in which the risk of a collision is, e.g. B. "Collision alert, starboard tack". While other AIS systems only emit an unclear tone, the Cortex says what the alarm is for and from which direction the danger is imminent. Check boat status, receive alerts and operate devices - Cortex remote monitoring makes it possible with Cortex handheld devices (sold separately) or the Cortex smartphone apps. Connect up to 5 external sensors directly to the system for additional monitoring capabilities.
Subscribe to a Cortex Monitor premium plan to receive alerts, view real-time boat information and remotely control devices such as air conditioning, lighting, refrigeration or ice machines via the Cortex Monitor app on your compatible smartphone.

CORTEX ONBOARD APP CLEAR INTENTIONS NETWORK CONNECTIVITY
While on the boat, the Cortex Onboard App can serve as the primary interface to the Cortex M1 hub. You can monitor boat statistics, receive alarms, view instrument data and view AIS pages on your compatible smart device. Send integrated heading data to other boats via AIS transmissions so they can accurately track their closest point of approach and alter course to avoid you. The Cortex can send and receive information over NMEA 0183 and NMEA 2000 networks. This makes the system compatible with most modern chartplotters and multifunction displays.

Robust technology for the harsh conditions at sea

ROBUST, DURABLE DESIGN
With an IPX7 waterproof rating, the Cortex hub's thermal polymer body resists heat and corrosion. The hub can therefore be securely mounted anywhere on board.

LOW ENERGY CONSUMPTION
The Cortex-Hub has a minimum current consumption of approx. 500 mA. This allows it to stay on at all times so you are informed. It even gives alarms when the multifunction display is off. This is ideal when you are at anchor or on a long voyage and need to conserve power.

GALVANIC ISOLATION
Galvanically isolated connectors and internal components protect your Cortex hub and connected devices from short circuits and circuit damage that can occur in marine conditions.

MULTI GNSS
GPS updates are performed quickly at 10Hz, keeping pace with the boat. The ship's position is determined using several global satellite networks. When you connect other devices to the Cortex-GPS via NMEA 2000 or NMEA 0183, all onboard devices benefit from the Cortex's super-fast GPS capabilities.
